Ooof. Buckets ful of vitriol, here. I've been doing this long enough to remember the days before Agile and I'm here to tell you it was no product development Shangri-La. The middle ground I think we can meet at is that, of course, performance is more important than process. In my own practice with very large enterprises I have moved to a 'scrumerfall' approach that blends some of the more traditional biz analysis, planning, and budgeting techniques with those Agile attributes that help development teams move fast and love their work. At the end of the day, few of us - or our customers - can afford the cost of dogma. These methodologies are a box of tools and its up to us to grab those necessary to move our projects forward most effectively.
